Post 10 - Evaluation of Blog Experience

I had never had the experience of writing in a blog, and the truth is that I liked it a lot, since the subjects were quite interesting and mostly entertaining. However, there were times when I forgot to write them, I'm sorry about that.  I acquired more skills in writing in another language, usually my relationship with the inglish language is through listening to songs and there I had the opportunity to explore another field, that of writing.  I believe that the way the blog is thinking is correct, the issues are in accordance with our interests and what is happening today in society, so they are relevant. I wouldn’t change anything in this format, I think it helps a lot to improve our english language skills.  I would like perhaps in the future to write about the issues that I am working with my colleagues. For example, we are doing a report about mental health in university students and it’s an issue that concerns us all, since, first of all we are university stud

Post 9 : A Subject you've enjoyed studying this semester

I have always liked to enjoy the different scenarios offered by culture, music, cinema, theater, art in general. And this year in the university I have had the opportunity to study it from the perspective of the industries, in fact the subject is called Cultural Industries. In that class it’s exposed that they are the cultural industries, how they influence our lives and how they have been covering different spaces of our lives without us not realizing that. I remember that the first classes we sought to define what culture was, based on these definitions, we began to see culture from another perspective. We had the opportunity, for example, to attend artistic exhibitions on our own and from there criticize and understand them from our point of view and what they represent for us. We have also seen audiovisual productions, films unknown to me and that have surprised me happily. On the other way, we have been taught the importance of the media and the impact they have on

Post 8- Carrer-Related Website OR An Expert on your Field

One of my first approaches to journalism was through a book by Rodrigo Fluxa, a journalist from the University of Chile who has written several reference books in different areas. The book was called "Solos en la noche", which caused a lot of impact because it told the life of the assassins of Daniel Zamudio. Subsequently, it became a television production where Fluxa himself wrote the script. The way he explains the stories is the one I like the most. He shows several perspectives on a controversial case, so it leaves readers to decide what to believe and what not. I have read several books of him and each one surprises me more, he gives you unknown antecedents, profiles of his protagonists with several details, so that one can immediately build the image in his head. A few weeks ago he brought out a new book, about Viviana Heager, an accountant from Puerto Varas who, after 42 days disappeared, was found dead in her own home. I hope to have the opportunity to read

Post 7: My Indignation

With regard to all this setback that is occurring due to the change in the educational program of the education of the middle school students in Chile, there is another thing that unites me in the same or worse way and is the cost of books. In general, the access to culture in Chile is precarious and is extremely worrisome. Since I was little I liked reading, but the price of books is too high. While there are alternatives, such as libraries, it’s not enough. In addition, there is no incentive to read, that's why studies always show that a very small percentage of Chileans hardly understand what they read. There are very few instances in the year with activities dedicated to reading, such as FILSA (International Book Fair of Santiago) that has been done for more than 30 years. However, it’s unusual that at the most important book fair in Santiago, every year people have to pay for their income. For them it’s not enough to sell expensive books, but they also add an extra co

Post 6: Sexism Shown in a Fiction Character that I Love.

Helga G. Pataki was the character that I loved the most when I was a girl. Helga was a character in the Nickelodeon series "Hey Arnold." What I liked most about this character was his appearance, which went in a way against the canons that are imposed on girls since we are born. Although Helga wore pink, it was her attitudes that determined her. For example, she always played baseball with the children of the series, was empowered and always got the word out. she lived her sensitivity in a private way. However, this character was compared all the time with his sister, Olga, who was just the opposite of Helga. Olga was exaggeratedly sweet, sensitive and had excellent grades. I think there lies sexism, in the character of Olga. The series does it from a critical point of view, since despite the fact that the parents of these sisters felt a preference to Olga, Helga never abandoned her way of being.

POST 5: The Story of a Picture

This photo is taken on December 15 of last year during the Morrissey show in Santiago. It's a photomontage of the singer lighting a cigar to James Dean, the actor who died tragically and whose death is surrounded by mystery. That day coincided with my sister's birthday, she was a little angry because I would not be with her in her day, besides, I had already gone to a show of him in 2015. However, she understood it later.  It was a great day, my friends, Andrea and Diego, accompanied me. Later when the show ended, we went to the Blondie Club, a place that plays alternative music in Santiago (and one of my favorites places in this city), where you could enter for free with the ticket of the show. It had been a musical special of The Smiths and Morrissey (obviously) and we danced all night those sad songs that we love.
