Post 10 - Evaluation of Blog Experience

I had never had the experience of writing in a blog, and the truth is that I liked it a lot, since the subjects were quite interesting and mostly entertaining. However, there were times when I forgot to write them, I'm sorry about that.  I acquired more skills in writing in another language, usually my relationship with the inglish language is through listening to songs and there I had the opportunity to explore another field, that of writing.  I believe that the way the blog is thinking is correct, the issues are in accordance with our interests and what is happening today in society, so they are relevant. I wouldn’t change anything in this format, I think it helps a lot to improve our english language skills.  I would like perhaps in the future to write about the issues that I am working with my colleagues. For example, we are doing a report about mental health in university students and it’s an issue that concerns us all, since, first of all we are unive...

Post 9 : A Subject you've enjoyed studying this semester

I have always liked to enjoy the different scenarios offered by culture, music, cinema, theater, art in general. And this year in the university I have had the opportunity to study it from the perspective of the industries, in fact the subject is called Cultural Industries. In that class it’s exposed that they are the cultural industries, how they influence our lives and how they have been covering different spaces of our lives without us not realizing that. I remember that the first classes we sought to define what culture was, based on these definitions, we began to see culture from another perspective. We had the opportunity, for example, to attend artistic exhibitions on our own and from there criticize and understand them from our point of view and what they represent for us. We have also seen audiovisual productions, films unknown to me and that have surprised me happily. On the other way, we have been taught the importance of the media and the impact they have on ...

Post 8- Carrer-Related Website OR An Expert on your Field

One of my first approaches to journalism was through a book by Rodrigo Fluxa, a journalist from the University of Chile who has written several reference books in different areas. The book was called "Solos en la noche", which caused a lot of impact because it told the life of the assassins of Daniel Zamudio. Subsequently, it became a television production where Fluxa himself wrote the script. The way he explains the stories is the one I like the most. He shows several perspectives on a controversial case, so it leaves readers to decide what to believe and what not. I have read several books of him and each one surprises me more, he gives you unknown antecedents, profiles of his protagonists with several details, so that one can immediately build the image in his head. A few weeks ago he brought out a new book, about Viviana Heager, an accountant from Puerto Varas who, after 42 days disappeared, was found dead in her own home. I hope to have the opportunity to read...

Post 7: My Indignation

With regard to all this setback that is occurring due to the change in the educational program of the education of the middle school students in Chile, there is another thing that unites me in the same or worse way and is the cost of books. In general, the access to culture in Chile is precarious and is extremely worrisome. Since I was little I liked reading, but the price of books is too high. While there are alternatives, such as libraries, it’s not enough. In addition, there is no incentive to read, that's why studies always show that a very small percentage of Chileans hardly understand what they read. There are very few instances in the year with activities dedicated to reading, such as FILSA (International Book Fair of Santiago) that has been done for more than 30 years. However, it’s unusual that at the most important book fair in Santiago, every year people have to pay for their income. For them it’s not enough to sell expensive books, but they also add an extra co...
